Seventeen and a half-year-old James Thompson recently obtained his driver’s license, making him one of the youngest licensed drivers in the state. While most teenagers have to wait until they turn 18 to get their license, James was able to do so a few months early due to a special provision in the law that allows minors to obtain a provisional license at 17 and a half.
James, a high school senior, had been eagerly awaiting the day he could finally drive legally. “I’ve been counting down the days until I turned 17 and a half,” he said. “I couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel and have the freedom to go wherever I want.”
