Florida Governor Signs Bill to Allow Undocumented Immigrants to Obtain Driver’s Licenses
Tallahassee, FL – In a groundbreaking move that has sparked both praise and controversy, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law today that will allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses in the state.
The bill, known as the Driver License for All Act, was proposed by State Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith, a Democrat from Orlando. Smith, who is of Puerto Rican descent, has long been an advocate for immigrant rights and believes that all residents of Florida, regardless of their immigration status, should have access to driver’s licenses.
