Colorado Announces New Design for Driver’s Licenses
DENVER, CO – In an effort to enhance security features and stay ahead of counterfeiters, the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has unveiled a new design for the state’s driver’s licenses. The updated design includes several advanced features that will make it more difficult to forge, ensuring the integrity of the document and the safety of Colorado residents.
The new driver’s licenses feature a sophisticated color palette with intricate detailing, making them visually striking and unique. The card includes a holographic overlay that changes color and shape when viewed from different angles, adding an additional layer of security. In addition, the card incorporates tactile printing, which creates a raised effect on certain elements of the license, providing a tactile way to verify its authenticity.

In addition to the updated security features, the new driver’s licenses will also include a redesign of the information layout, making it easier to read and navigate. The transition to the new driver’s licenses will be gradual, with current cardholders receiving the updated design when they renew their licenses. However, Colorado residents can request to upgrade to the new design before their renewal date for a small fee. The DMV expects the transition to be completed within the next two years, with all cardholders possessing the updated design by 2023.
“We understand that some cardholders may wish to upgrade to the new design before their renewal date,” said Jenkins. “We have made provisions for those individuals to do so, ensuring that they can benefit from the enhanced security features as soon as possible.”
