International Driver’s License Now Available from AAA
Traveling abroad can be an exciting experience, but navigating foreign roads can be a daunting task. From different road signs to unfamiliar driving laws, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. Luckily, AAA is now offering an international driver’s license to help ease the transition for travelers heading overseas.
The international driver’s license, also known as an International Driving Permit (IDP), is a document that translates your driver’s license into multiple languages, making it easier for authorities to understand your credentials. It is recognized in over 150 countries worldwide, allowing you to drive legally in most places outside of your home country.
“We understand that driving in a foreign country can be a challenge, which is why we are excited to offer the international driver’s license to our members,” said a representative from AAA. “With this document, travelers can feel more confident behind the wheel and focus on enjoying their trip.”
Obtaining an international driver’s license from AAA is a straightforward process. Members can apply online or visit their local AAA office to fill out an application form and provide a copy of their valid driver’s license. The cost of the IDP is $20 for AAA members and $25 for non-members, and it is valid for one year from the date of issue.
“Having an international driver’s license can be a lifesaver in case of an emergency,” said a frequent traveler and AAA member. “I always make sure to have one with me whenever I travel abroad, just in case I need to rent a car or drive in a foreign country.”
In addition to providing a translation of your driver’s license, the international driver’s license also includes important information such as your name, photo, and contact details. This can be helpful in case of an accident or if you need to communicate with local authorities while driving overseas.
While the international driver’s license is a valuable tool for travelers, it is important to remember that it is not a stand-alone document. In order to drive legally in a foreign country, you must also carry your valid driver’s license from your home country, as well as any other required documents such as insurance and vehicle registration.
“We always advise our members to familiarize themselves with the driving laws and regulations of the country they are visiting before getting behind the wheel,” said the AAA representative. “Being a responsible and informed driver is key to having a safe and enjoyable experience while traveling.”
In addition to offering the international driver’s license, AAA also provides a wealth of resources and information for travelers, including road maps, travel guides, and travel insurance. With over 60 million members across the United States and Canada, AAA is a trusted source for all things related to travel and road safety.
Whether you are planning a road trip through Europe or a beach vacation in the Caribbean, having an international driver’s license from AAA can provide peace of mind and ensure that you are prepared for any driving situation that may arise. So before you hit the road on your next adventure, stop by your local AAA office and get your international driver’s license today. Safe travels!
