Ohio to Begin Issuing New 4ALSS Driver’s Licenses in Effort to Enhance Security
Columbus, Ohio – In a move to enhance security and combat identity theft, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) announced today that it will begin issuing new 4ALSS driver’s licenses to residents across the state. The introduction of these new licenses comes as part of a nationwide effort to improve the security features of state-issued identification documents.
The new 4ALSS licenses, which will replace the current licenses, feature state-of-the-art security technologies to make them more difficult to counterfeit. The updated licenses will include a variety of security features, including holographic images, microprinting, and ultraviolet ink. These advanced security measures are designed to make it easier for law enforcement officials and businesses to verify the authenticity of driver’s licenses and reduce the likelihood of fraud.
“We are committed to ensuring the security and integrity of our state’s identification documents,” said Ohio BMV Director, Stephanie McCloud. “By introducing these new 4ALSS driver’s licenses, we are taking proactive steps to protect the identity of Ohio residents and safeguard against identity theft.”
In addition to enhanced security features, the new 4ALSS licenses will also feature a modern design that is both easy to read and visually appealing. The front of the license will display the driver’s photograph, full name, date of birth, and address, while the back will include additional information such as height, weight, eye color, and license expiration date.
Residents of Ohio will begin receiving the new 4ALSS licenses when they renew their driver’s licenses or apply for a new license. Those who currently hold a valid Ohio driver’s license will not be required to replace their license until it expires.
The introduction of the new 4ALSS driver’s licenses comes at a time when identity theft and fraud are on the rise across the country. According to the Federal Trade Commission, identity theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes in the United States, with millions of Americans falling victim to fraudulent activity each year.
“Identity theft is a serious issue that can have devastating consequences for individuals and families,” said McCloud. “By upgrading our driver’s licenses with advanced security features, we are helping to protect Ohio residents from falling victim to identity theft and fraud.”
The Ohio BMV is working closely with law enforcement agencies, businesses, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition to the new 4ALSS driver’s licenses. Training sessions will be held for law enforcement officers and business owners to familiarize them with the new security features and help them verify the authenticity of the licenses.
“We are committed to making this transition as seamless as possible for Ohio residents,” said McCloud. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone is able to easily obtain and use their new 4ALSS driver’s license without any disruptions.”
Ohio residents are encouraged to visit their local BMV office or the BMV website for more information about the new 4ALSS driver’s licenses, including how to apply for a new license or renew an existing license. The BMV will also be hosting informational sessions and town hall meetings to answer any questions that residents may have about the new licenses.
“We are excited to introduce these new 4ALSS driver’s licenses to Ohio residents,” said McCloud. “We believe that these licenses will provide a higher level of security and protection for our residents, and we are committed to ensuring that the transition to the new licenses is a smooth and efficient process.”
The new 4ALSS driver’s licenses are expected to be fully implemented by the end of the year, with all Ohio residents receiving the new licenses by their next renewal date. The Ohio BMV will continue to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the new security features to ensure that they are providing the highest level of protection for Ohio residents.
