New Jersey Introduces Class D Driver’s License for Aspiring Drivers
The New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles has recently announced the introduction of a new Class D driver’s license for aspiring drivers in the state. This new license class is aimed at providing young drivers with more flexibility and opportunities to gain their driving privileges.
The Class D driver’s license is specifically designed for drivers who are between the ages of 16 and 18, and who have completed the required driver’s education program. In order to be eligible for this license class, applicants must pass both a written exam and a driving test, as well as meet certain eligibility requirements set by the DMV.
“With the introduction of the Class D driver’s license, we hope to provide young drivers with a safer and more structured path to gaining their driving privileges,” stated DMV spokesperson, Sarah Johnson. “This new license class will help to instill a sense of responsibility and accountability in young drivers, while also giving them the freedom to explore the roads and gain valuable driving experience.”
One of the key benefits of the Class D driver’s license is that it allows young drivers to operate a wider range of vehicles compared to the previous learner’s permit. With this new license class, drivers will be able to drive passenger cars, light trucks, and vans, as well as motorcycles with engine sizes under 250 cc.
Additionally, drivers with a Class D license will be allowed to drive unsupervised during specific hours, as long as they adhere to the state’s graduated driver’s license program.
