Illinois Drivers to Face Increased Costs for Driver’s Licenses
Illinois residents may soon have to pay more for their driver’s licenses as the state looks to increase fees to cover budget shortfalls. The proposed fee hikes come as Illinois struggles with a growing budget deficit due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and longstanding financial challenges.
Currently, the cost of obtaining a standard driver’s license in Illinois is $30, with an additional $20 fee for a REAL ID-compliant license.
