– Be at least 21 years old
– Have a currently valid driver’s license that is either expired or will expire within 180 days
– Have a license that is not suspended or revoked
– Have a license that is in good standing, with no outstanding fees or violations
If a resident meets these criteria, they can simply visit the Massachusetts RMV website and follow the instructions to renew their license online. The process is quick and easy, taking just a few minutes to complete. Once the renewal is processed, residents will receive a new license in the mail within 7-10 business days.

In addition to online renewal, the RMV also offers a self-service kiosk option for license renewals. These kiosks are located at select RMV locations and allow residents to renew their licenses in person, without having to interact with a RMV employee. The kiosks are equipped with touchscreen technology and accept credit or debit card payments.
“We understand that some residents may prefer to renew their licenses in person, but still want a quick and efficient experience,” said Stein. “Our self-service kiosks offer the best of both worlds – the convenience of in-person renewal with the speed of an online transaction.”
