California’s DMV to Issue Driver’s Licenses to Undocumented Immigrants
In a landmark decision, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced that it will begin issuing driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants. This move comes after years of advocacy and lobbying by immigration rights groups, who argue that allowing undocumented immigrants to legally drive will make roads safer for everyone.
The decision, which goes into effect immediately, will allow undocumented immigrants to apply for a driver’s license by providing proof of identity and residency in the state of California. The DMV will also require applicants to pass a written and driving test, just like any other driver.
