Change Address On Driver’s License Arizona

Arizona Department of Transportation Announces New Process for Changing Address on Driver’s License

PHOENIX, AZ – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced a new, streamlined process for changing the address on a driver’s license in the state. Starting January 1, 2022, Arizona residents will be able to update their address online through the ADOT website, avoiding the need to visit a Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) office in person.

The new online process is part of ADOT’s ongoing effort to modernize and improve customer service for Arizona residents. By allowing individuals to update their address online, ADOT aims to reduce wait times at MVD offices and make it easier for residents to keep their driver’s license information up to date.

“We are excited to offer this new online address change process for driver’s licenses,” said ADOT Director John Halikowski. “This will make it more convenient for Arizona residents to ensure their information is accurate and current, without the need to visit an MVD office in person.”

To update their address online, residents will need to visit the ADOT website and log in to their account. They will then be prompted to verify their identity and provide their new address. ADOT will use secure authentication methods to ensure the accuracy of the information provided.

Once the address change has been processed, residents will receive a new driver’s license with their updated address within 7-10 business days. In the meantime, they can print a temporary driver’s license from the ADOT website to use as proof of their updated address.

In addition to the online process, residents will still have the option to update their address in person at an MVD office if they prefer. However, ADOT encourages individuals to take advantage of the new online system to save time and avoid potential wait times at the office.

“We understand that life can get busy, and it’s not always convenient to visit an MVD office during business hours,” said Halikowski. “By offering this new online address change process, we hope to make it easier for Arizona residents to keep their driver’s license information current, no matter where they are or what time of day it is.”

ADOT also reminds residents that it is important to update their address on their driver’s license as soon as possible after moving to a new location. Failure to do so can result in penalties or fines if a resident is pulled over by law enforcement and their address does not match the one on file.

“We want to help residents avoid any potential issues or delays that could arise from having outdated information on their driver’s license,” said Halikowski. “By making the process quick and easy, we hope to encourage everyone to take the necessary steps to keep their information accurate and up to date.”

For more information on how to change the address on a driver’s license in Arizona, residents can visit the ADOT website or contact the MVD office. ADOT is committed to providing top-notch customer service and convenience for all Arizona residents, and the new online address change process is just one of many initiatives aimed at achieving that goal.
