Pennsylvania Driver License Photo Centers to Reopen with Enhanced Safety Measures
After being closed for several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pennsylvania Driver License Photo Centers are set to reopen with enhanced safety measures in place. The centers, which are crucial for residents to obtain or renew their driver’s licenses, have been closed since March as part of the state’s efforts to curb the spread of the virus.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the centers will reopen in phases, with the first phase starting on June 1st. During this phase, only a limited number of centers will be open, and appointments will be required for all services. This is to ensure that social distancing guidelines can be maintained and to prevent overcrowding at the centers.
In addition to requiring appointments, PennDOT will also be implementing several other safety measures to protect both employees and customers. All staff will be required to wear face masks, and customers will be encouraged to do the same. Hand sanitizer will be provided at all centers, and frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces will be carried out throughout the day.
Customers will also be asked to practice social distancing while inside the centers, and only a limited number of people will be allowed inside at any given time. Plexiglass barriers will be installed at service counters to provide an extra layer of protection between employees and customers.
PennDOT Secretary Yassmin Gramian emphasized the importance of reopening the Photo Centers in a safe and responsible manner. She stated, “We understand that obtaining or renewing a driver’s license is essential for many Pennsylvanians, and we are committed to providing these services in a way that protects the health and safety of everyone involved.”
