Utah Department of Public Safety to Offer Driver License Test in Spanish
Salt Lake City, UT – The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced today that they will now be offering the driver license test in Spanish for those who prefer to take the test in their native language. This new initiative is part of the DPS’s ongoing efforts to make their services more accessible to all residents, regardless of their language proficiency.
“We are committed to ensuring that all Utah residents have access to the resources they need to obtain a driver’s license,” said DPS Commissioner, Jess L. Anderson. “By offering the driver license test in Spanish, we are making it easier for Spanish-speaking individuals to navigate the licensing process and become safe, responsible drivers on our roads.”
The decision to offer the driver license test in Spanish comes after years of advocacy from various community organizations and individuals who have highlighted the need for more language options in the testing process. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Spanish is the second most spoken language in Utah after English, with over 450,000 Spanish speakers in the state.
