Alabama Introduces New Driver’s License Design for 2021
The Alabama Department of Public Safety recently unveiled a new design for the state’s driver’s licenses, set to be rolled out in 2021. The updated design features enhanced security features and a modern look that aims to combat counterfeiting and identity fraud.
The new driver’s license design includes a number of security features that make it more difficult to duplicate and forge. These features include a watermark image of the state seal, a holographic overlay, and microprint text that is only visible under magnification. Additionally, the license will now include a laser-engraved signature and a barcode that can be scanned for verification purposes.
In a statement, Alabama Department of Public Safety spokesperson, Jennifer Smith, explained the reasoning behind the new design. “With advancements in technology, it’s become increasingly important to stay ahead of those who seek to create fake IDs for nefarious purposes,” she said. “The new design incorporates state-of-the-art security features that will make it extremely difficult for counterfeiters to replicate.”
The updated design also includes a new look that enhances the aesthetic appeal of the driver’s license. The front of the license features a background image of the Alabama state flag, along with the individual’s photo, name, and date of birth. The back of the license includes the individual’s address, license class, and expiration date.
The introduction of the new driver’s license design comes as part of a broader effort by the Alabama Department of Public Safety to enhance the security and integrity of state-issued identification cards. In addition to the new design, the department has also implemented new procedures for verifying the identity of applicants and conducting background checks to prevent fraud.
The new driver’s license design is set to be implemented in phases, starting with newly issued licenses in 2021. Current license holders will have the option to renew their existing license with the new design for a fee. Those with licenses that are still valid will not be required to update to the new design until their license expires.
Alabama residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new driver’s license design and security features to ensure that they can easily authenticate the validity of their own licenses. Individuals who suspect that their license has been duplicated or tampered with are urged to contact the Alabama Department of Public Safety immediately.
Overall, the introduction of the new driver’s license design represents a significant step forward in the fight against identity fraud and counterfeiting in Alabama. By incorporating advanced security features and a modern look, the state aims to stay ahead of those who seek to exploit vulnerabilities in the identification system. Residents can rest assured that their driver’s licenses are now better protected and more secure than ever before.
