New Alberta Driver’s License Classes Aim to Improve Road Safety
In an effort to enhance road safety and better cater to the diverse needs of drivers, the province of Alberta has introduced new driver’s license classes. These new classes, which come into effect on September 1st, aim to provide more specialized training and ensure that drivers are equipped with the skills needed to navigate the roads safely.
The new driver’s license classes are as follows:
Class 1: This class is for drivers who operate heavy trucks, such as tractor-trailers and large tow trucks. Drivers in this class will undergo extensive training on handling these large vehicles and will be required to pass a rigorous road test to obtain their license.
Class 2: Drivers in this class will be able to operate buses, including school buses, as well as any vehicle covered under Class 4. This class is designed to ensure that drivers are well-equipped to transport passengers safely.
Class 3: This class is for drivers who operate trucks with more than two axles, such as dump trucks and large tow trucks. Drivers in this class will receive specialized training on handling these vehicles and will need to pass a road test to obtain their license.
Class 4: This class is for drivers who operate taxis, ambulances, and other vehicles that transport small groups of people. Drivers in this class will be required to undergo training on passenger safety and will need to pass a road test to obtain their license.
The introduction of these new driver’s license classes is part of a broader effort by the Alberta government to improve road safety in the province.
