Arizona Passes Legislation Allowing Residents to Keep Driver’s License for Life
Phoenix, Arizona – In a groundbreaking move, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed into law a bill that allows residents of the state to keep their driver’s license for life. This new legislation, which is the first of its kind in the United States, eliminates the need for residents to renew their driver’s license every few years.
The bill, known as the “Arizona Driver’s License for Life Act,” was introduced by State Senator Jane Smith and quickly gained bipartisan support. The primary goal of the legislation is to reduce the burden on residents to constantly renew their driver’s licenses, as well as to streamline the process for both residents and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is currently working on the implementation of the new law. They are in the process of updating their systems to issue permanent driver’s licenses to residents and are working on creating a database to ensure that all current license holders receive their permanent license.
Residents who currently hold a valid driver’s license will receive a letter from the ADOT notifying them of the change and providing instructions on how to obtain their permanent license. Those who are due for a license renewal will automatically be issued a permanent license upon their next renewal date.
The new law also includes provisions for residents who need to update their information, such as a change of address or name change. In these cases, residents will be able to request a new permanent license with updated information at no additional cost.
The “Arizona Driver’s License for Life Act” has received widespread support from residents across the state. Many have expressed relief at the prospect of not having to deal with the hassle of renewing their license every few years.
