BG KY Driver’s License Office Facing Backlog Due to Statewide Computer Glitch
BOWLING GREEN, KY – The Bowling Green driver’s license office is currently facing a backlog of appointments and frustrated customers due to a statewide computer glitch that has affected the processing of driver’s licenses and identification cards.
The glitch, which has been ongoing for over a week, has caused delays in the issuance of new licenses, renewals, and duplicates. This has left many residents unable to get their required documentation in a timely manner.
“I had an appointment scheduled over a week ago to renew my license, and I still haven’t received it in the mail,” said Sarah Thompson, a Bowling Green resident. “It’s frustrating because I need it to drive, and I can’t do that without a valid license.”
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has acknowledged the issue and is working to resolve it as quickly as possible. In a statement, they explained that the glitch is related to a system upgrade that did not go as planned, causing delays in processing times.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers,” said KYTC spokesperson, Jennifer Smith. “We are working diligently to fix the issue and get back to normal processing times as soon as possible.”
In the meantime, the Bowling Green driver’s license office is encouraging customers to be patient and understanding as they work through the backlog. They are also asking residents to consider rescheduling non-essential appointments to help alleviate the strain on their resources.
“We understand that this is a frustrating situation for many of our customers, and we appreciate their patience as we work to resolve the issue,” said Karen Williams, manager of the Bowling Green driver’s license office. “We are doing everything we can to process applications as quickly as possible, and we will keep the public updated on any developments.”
Despite the challenges caused by the computer glitch, the Bowling Green driver’s license office is continuing to serve customers to the best of their ability. They are working extra hours and bringing in additional staff to help with the increased demand for services.
“We are committed to providing the best possible service to our customers, even in the face of unforeseen challenges like this,” said Williams. “We are grateful for their understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.”
In the meantime, residents of Bowling Green are encouraged to check the KYTC website for updates on the status of the computer glitch and any changes to processing times at their local driver’s license office. It is advised to wait a few more days before visiting the office for any non-essential services to allow them time to work through the backlog.
