California to Introduce New Digital Driver’s License System
California residents will soon have the option to ditch their physical driver’s licenses in favor of a new digital driver’s license system. The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced that they will be launching a pilot program to test out the new digital driver’s license.
The digital driver’s license, which will be accessible through a smartphone app, aims to provide a more convenient and secure way for residents to carry their identification. The pilot program for the digital driver’s license system will initially be rolled out to select counties in California, with plans to expand statewide if successful.
