Pennsylvanians who are moving to a new address within the state can now conveniently update their driver’s license information online. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) recently launched a new service that allows residents to change their address on their driver’s license or identification card electronically.
With this convenient online service, residents no longer have to visit a PennDOT Driver License Center in person to update their information. This streamlined process saves time and effort for busy individuals who are going through a move.
To update their address online, residents simply need to visit the PennDOT website and provide their driver’s license number, date of birth, and last four digits of their Social Security number. They will also need to provide their new address information. Once the information is submitted, the resident will receive a confirmation email with a printable temporary driver’s license that can be used until the new license arrives in the mail.
This new online service is part of PennDOT’s efforts to modernize and improve the efficiency of its services. By offering convenient online options, PennDOT is making it easier for residents to update their information and stay compliant with state regulations.
“We are excited to offer this new online service to our residents,” said PennDOT Secretary Yassmin Gramian. “Moving can be a stressful time, and we want to make the process as smooth as possible for our customers. By allowing residents to update their address online, we are saving them time and hassle.”
In addition to changing address information, residents can also use the online service to update their emergency contact information. This feature allows residents to provide contact information for a friend or family member to be notified in case of an emergency.
“We encourage all residents to take advantage of this new online service,” said Gramian. “Keeping your driver’s license information up to date is important for a variety of reasons, including voting, receiving important notifications, and maintaining compliance with state regulations.”
Residents who are moving out of state will still need to visit a PennDOT Driver License Center in person to update their information. However, PennDOT is exploring options to expand online services for out-of-state moves in the future.
The online service for changing address information is just one of many improvements that PennDOT has made in recent years. The department has also introduced online driver’s license renewal, vehicle registration renewal, and other convenient services to make it easier for residents to interact with the agency.
“We are committed to providing top-notch customer service to the residents of Pennsylvania,” said Gramian. “By offering convenient online options and modernizing our processes, we are making it easier for residents to access the services they need.”
Residents who are planning a move can visit the PennDOT website to update their address information online. The process is quick and easy, and residents will receive their new driver’s license in the mail within a few weeks. By taking advantage of this new online service, residents can save time and hassle during a busy moving process.
