EL PASO, TEXAS – In a move to streamline services and provide convenience to residents, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced a new online renewal process for driver’s licenses in El Paso, Texas.
Starting this month, residents in El Paso and surrounding areas can now renew their driver’s license online through the DPS website. This new online service comes as part of the DPS’s efforts to modernize and improve its services to make it easier for Texans to access essential services without the need for in-person visits to DPS offices.

They will need to provide their current driver’s license number, date of birth, and the last four digits of their social security number to verify their identity. Residents will also need to pay the required renewal fee using a credit or debit card.
Once the renewal application is submitted and the fee is paid, residents will receive a confirmation email with a temporary driver’s license that they can use until their new license arrives in the mail. The new driver’s license will be valid for six years from the expiration date of the current license.
