Driver License for Flying: A New Requirement for Drone Operators
In an effort to improve safety and accountability in the rapidly growing drone industry, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has introduced a new requirement for drone operators: a “driver license for flying.”
The new regulation, which came into effect on January 1st, 2022, mandates that all drone operators must obtain a special license before they can legally fly their drones. The license, which is similar to a driver’s license for cars, requires operators to pass a written exam and a practical flying test to demonstrate their proficiency and knowledge of drone operation.
The move comes as the number of drones in the skies continues to increase at a rapid pace.
