Michigan to Allow Driver License Address Changes Online
In a move to make things easier for residents, the Michigan Secretary of State announced that residents can now change their driver license address online. This new service eliminates the need for residents to visit a Secretary of State office in person to update their address on their driver license.
The Michigan Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, made the announcement during a press conference on Tuesday. She explained that the new online service will streamline the process for residents and reduce the need for in-person visits to Secretary of State offices, which can often be time-consuming and inconvenient.
“We are constantly looking for ways to improve our services and make things easier for Michigan residents,” Benson said. “By allowing residents to change their driver license address online, we are saving them time and hassle, and making it more convenient for them to update their information.”
To change their driver license address online, residents simply need to visit the Michigan Secretary of State website and log in to their account. From there, they can easily update their address and receive a new driver license with the updated information in the mail.
This new online service comes as part of the Michigan Secretary of State’s ongoing efforts to modernize and improve its services. In recent years, the Secretary of State has introduced online services for vehicle registration renewals, driver license renewals, and other common transactions that previously required an in-person visit to a Secretary of State office.
Residents who wish to change their driver license address online must have a valid Michigan driver license and a credit or debit card for payment. The cost to change the address on a driver license is $9, which must be paid at the time of the address change.
The Michigan Secretary of State’s office has also provided a helpline for residents who may have questions or need assistance with changing their driver license address online. The helpline is staffed by knowledgeable representatives who can provide guidance and support to residents throughout the process.
The new online service for changing driver license addresses has been well-received by Michigan residents, many of whom have praised the Secretary of State for making it easier to update their information.
“I was so relieved when I heard that I could change my driver license address online,” said Emily, a Michigan resident. “I recently moved and was dreading having to go to the Secretary of State office to update my address. Being able to do it online saved me so much time and hassle.”
With the introduction of this new online service, Michigan residents can now easily update their driver license addresses without the need for an in-person visit to a Secretary of State office. This convenient and efficient service is just one of the many ways the Michigan Secretary of State is working to improve services for residents across the state.
