Minnesota to Introduce New Driver’s License Design in 2023
In an effort to enhance security features and stay ahead of counterfeiters, Minnesota will be rolling out a new design for the state’s driver’s licenses and identification cards in 2023. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services (DPS-DVS) announced the upcoming change, citing the need for increased protection against identity theft and fraud.
The new design will feature several advanced security features, including a laser-engraved primary portrait of the cardholder and a unique color-shifting overlay that is only visible under certain lighting conditions. Additionally, the card will contain a tactile feature for individuals with visual impairments, making it easier to identify the card as authentic.
