Oregon DMV Announces New Secure Driver’s License Design
The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has announced that they will be rolling out a new, more secure design for driver’s licenses in the state. The new design features enhanced security features that will help prevent counterfeiting and identity theft.
One of the most noticeable changes to the new design is the addition of a color-shifting image on the front of the license. This image, which changes color depending on the angle at which it is viewed, is a sophisticated anti-counterfeiting measure that is difficult to replicate.
In addition to the color-shifting image, the new licenses will also include a number of other security features, such as ultraviolet printing, microprinting, and laser engraving. These features are designed to make the licenses more difficult to forge and to help ensure that only legitimate license holders are able to use them.
The Oregon DMV has been working on the new design for several months in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders. The goal of the redesign is to enhance the security of Oregon driver’s licenses and to help protect the identities of Oregon residents.
“We are committed to ensuring the security of Oregon driver’s licenses and to preventing fraud and identity theft,” said a spokesperson for the Oregon DMV. “We believe that the new design will help achieve these goals and provide Oregon residents with a more secure form of identification.”
The new design will be phased in gradually over the coming months, with all new licenses issued starting in January 2023 featuring the updated design. Current license holders will not be required to replace their existing licenses with the new design, but they will have the option to do so if they wish.
In addition to the new design, the Oregon DMV is also launching a campaign to educate Oregon residents about the security features of the new licenses and how to verify the authenticity of their own license. The campaign will include informational materials, social media posts, and in-person events at DMV offices throughout the state.
“We want Oregon residents to be aware of the security features of their driver’s licenses and to know how to spot a fake or fraudulent license,” said the spokesperson. “By working together with law enforcement and the community, we can help ensure that Oregon driver’s licenses remain a trusted form of identification.”
Overall, the new design for Oregon driver’s licenses represents a significant step forward in the fight against fraud and identity theft. With its enhanced security features and educational campaign, the Oregon DMV is taking proactive steps to protect the identities of Oregon residents and to ensure the integrity of the state’s driver’s license system.
