Pennsylvania Driver’s License Holders Get Extended Grace Period for Expired Licenses
Pennsylvania residents who have allowed their driver’s licenses to expire during the COVID-19 pandemic now have some relief. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced an extended grace period for expired driver’s licenses, giving residents more time to renew their licenses without facing penalties.
The new grace period allows Pennsylvania drivers with expired licenses to continue driving legally until December 1, 2021. In addition to the extended grace period, PennDOT has also expanded online renewal options for driver’s licenses. Residents can now renew their licenses online through PennDOT’s website, making it easier and more convenient to update their credentials.

PennDOT has also reopened select driver’s license centers across the state, with safety measures in place to protect residents and staff. Residents can schedule appointments at these centers to renew their licenses in person if needed, ensuring that they can update their credentials before the December 1 deadline.
