New Texans looking to get their driver’s license in the Lone Star State will now have a new resource to help them prepare for the written exam. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has recently launched a new online practice test for aspiring drivers to brush up on their knowledge of the rules of the road.
The practice test is designed to mimic the questions on the actual written exam and covers a wide range of topics, including traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices. By taking the practice test, drivers can familiarize themselves with the types of questions they can expect to see on the real exam and improve their chances of passing on the first try.
“We are excited to offer this new resource to help new drivers prepare for the written exam,” said DPS spokesperson, Sarah Smith. “We understand that taking the written test can be nerve-wracking for many people, so we hope that this practice test will help alleviate some of that stress and boost confidence.”
The practice test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and can be taken online at any time. It is free of charge and does not require any registration or login information. After completing the test, drivers will receive immediate feedback on their performance, including a score and explanations for the correct answers.
“I found the practice test to be very helpful in preparing for the written exam,” said John, a new Texas resident who recently took the test. “It gave me a good sense of what to expect and allowed me to focus on areas where I needed to improve. I definitely feel more confident now going into the actual exam.”
In addition to the online practice test, DPS also offers a variety of other resources to help new drivers prepare for their license exams. These include a handbook that covers key driving concepts and a behind-the-wheel driving test to assess practical driving skills.
The launch of the new practice test comes as Texas continues to see an increase in the number of new drivers on the road. According to DPS data, the state issued over 1.5 million new driver’s licenses in 2021, a 10% increase from the previous year.
“With more drivers hitting the roads, it’s important for everyone to have a solid understanding of traffic laws and safe driving practices,” said Smith. “By offering resources like the practice test, we hope to promote safer driving behaviors and reduce the number of accidents on our roadways.”
