New Changes Coming to the Washington State Driver’s License Test
Washington State has long been known for having some of the country’s toughest requirements for obtaining a driver’s license. However, recent changes to the state’s driver’s license test are set to make the process even more challenging for aspiring drivers.
The Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) has announced that beginning next year, the driver’s license test will include a number of new questions and topics designed to better assess drivers’ knowledge and skills. One major change to the test will be the addition of questions relating to distracted driving. In addition to questions on distracted driving, the updated test will also include questions on impaired driving. The new questions will test drivers’ knowledge of the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving ability, as well as the legal consequences of driving under the influence.
Another major change coming to the driver’s license test is the addition of questions on road rage and aggressive driving. According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, aggressive driving behaviors such as speeding, tailgating, and weaving in and out of traffic are major contributors to accidents on the road. The new driver’s license test will be rolled out gradually over the next year, with all new applicants required to take the updated test by the end of 2023.
